Acanthus Brothers
This weekend is the Acanthus Pancake breakfast. Also this weekend, as it always happens twice a year, we conflict with the Scottish Rite degrees downtown known as a Reunion.
Most of you are also active members of the Scottish Rite and these Pancake Breakfasts are tough to hit on this weekend. I myself will have to leave the breakfast at 9:45am to get to the degrees I am participating in on time. (Honest, Charlie & Brian, I’ll be there on time:-)
Since many of us are going to be at the Scottish Rite most of the morning, (heck, the 13th degree is pretty much an “Acanthus” degree and is scheduled for Saturday morning), I’d like to ask that as many of you as possible, please show up to help. There is a faction of Acanthus members that like to use these conflicts as a excuse to complain about other Masonic bodies drawing off Acanthus members thus making the Lodge weaker. I, for one, believe a stronger Masonic community in the area makes all Lodges and other Masonic bodies stronger and more flexible. Please help reinforce this idea this weekend.
If you aren’t in a SR degree that directly conflicts with the Pancake Breakfast please do your best to come in and help. If you are a Scottish Rite member that likes to watch degree work, there is plenty going on Saturday after 11am to get your fix, that is where I’ll be all afternoon.
